A teenager has been charged with the murder of a 16-year-old boy found stabbed in the street.

Ozell Pemberton was discovered gravely injured and confirmed dead at the scene in Sutton Coldfield after the incident at around 3.30pm on Thursday.

The 17-year-old charged with his murder will appear before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning, West Midlands Police said.

The charge comes as Ozell’s parents described the pain those who loved the “bubbly” teenager are facing since a single stab wound to his chest claimed their son’s life.

“Our special boy Ozell, was one of a kind. A loving, respectful, funny, bubbly and courageous boy who always saw the bright side of life.

“He had a strong head on him and was wise beyond his years. He was independent and wanted to make his own way in life.

“Our family have suffered the most unimaginable pain and loss under the most tragic circumstances. We continue to stand together in unity and love, for Ozell was smothered with love.

“We would like to thank the emergency services and community for all their support.

“Justice for Ozell.”

On Saturday night, a 21-year-old from Erdington, Birmingham, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

A third man, a 17-year-old from Kingstanding, was arrested earlier on Sunday.

Both remain in custody as the West Midlands Police investigation continues.
