SEREN Bundy-Davies equalled her indoor personal best as she got her outdoor track season off to a fine start with 400m victory in Belgium last night.
The former Wilmslow High School student’s 51.72secs matched her UK best Sainsbury’s Indoor Grand Prix winning time in Birmingham from February.
Last night at the European Athletics Promotion (EAP) meeting in Nivelles, Belgium, the 20-year-old was too quick for nearest rivals Cynthia Bolingo Mbongo (52.86) of Belgium and Djenebou Dante (53.19) of Mali at the Stade de la Dodaine.
The Wales and Great Britain 400m specialist starts her summer campaign on the back of a strong indoor season which yielded a bronze medal on her individual GB debut at the European Indoor Championships in Prague in March, when she also achieved a relay silver.
Trafford Athletics Club’s Bundy-Davies, coached by Stephen Ball, was also a member of the GB women’s 4x400m World Relay Championships team in the Bahamas last month that secured Team GB a place in the Olympic Games in Rio next year.
