His 69 saw him home from Jamie Donald and Robert Bullock, both 70, and Reg Maddock and Simon Isherwood, both 71, at Wilmslow Golf Club.

The men’s Captain’s Prize Day at Wilmslow was a tight affair with Tim Jackson posting 70 to win by a shot from Mark Patrick, William McLeod, Chris Morfitt and Sam Proctor.

Tom Bloor was out on his own with 62 in the Professional’s Cup at Styal.

He finished five clear of Simon Geddis and Jack McLeod.

In a Sunday Stableford at Styal, Bloor just missed out on a double as he lost a card play-off on 36 to David Campbell.

Medal action for Styal ladies saw Lynn Guy lead in with 71 from Pat Chadwick, 74, and Jenny Merren and Mel Hill, both 77.

Styal juniors played the latest round of their summer series and Jack Muir won a cpo on 20 points from Max Nicholson.

The latest Styal Seniors Stableford was won by Malcolm Hollins with 37 from Kit Clucas, 36, and Mel Mason, 35.

The Alderley Edge Challenge Cup was won by Peter Burns with 64 from Andrew Marshall, 66, and Oliver Lane and Craig Aston, both 67.

The monthly medal at Alderley Edge went the way of Andrew Marshall, who topped Division One with 67 – one clear of Mike Troup and Michael Davies.

In Division Two, Mike O’Regan won a cpo on 67 from Brian Pennington.

Edge’s ladies played a medal to find their MDLGA Bunty Booth qualifier for 2017 and Wendy Rule was an emphatic winner on 71, four clear of Celia Berent.
