WILMSLOW Hockey Club women's seconds pulled off a 4-1 win against Timperley despite not having a goalkeeper.

After commanding possession with accurate passing Rachel Payne hit the backboard within the first 10 minutes.

Shortly after Jenny Middleton doubled the tally following a number of attacks.

Despite a strong performance from the defenders – and an outstanding display from Fiona Jeffers who cleared the ball off the line on multiple occasions – Timperley were able to halve the deficit before half time.

Wilmslow came back out fighting and Jess Finney quickly rewarded Wilmslow for their hard work with the team's third goal.

As Wilmslow continued to dominate possession Payne made a fantastic run, eliminating three defenders before shooting from the top of the D to find the bottom corner.

The club celebrated further victories at the weekend.

Wilmslow' women's third team beat Buckley's first team 4-0 as the men’s first team beat Lytham St Annes 2-0.

The men’s third team beat Macclesfield 5-4 in a tense match, while the men’s fourths defeated Macclesfield 5-0. The boys' under 15s also beat Macclesfield, 7-1.
