ANDY Wells has been in good form in medal play at Alderley Edge Golf Club.

He won a Division One contest by card play-off after going round in 64 along with Paul Penney.

On that occasion there were good scores in Division Two from Alan Adams, 63, and Chris Regan and Michael Blundell, 64.

In the next medal action Wells joined Paul Ellis in scoring 67 but finished three behind Tony Cooper, 64.

The Edge ladies played their medal final and it was won by Julie Ricketts with 68 from Celia Berent, 69, and Sue Kendrick, 71.

A singles stableford for Edge’s ladies needed a cpo on 36 points to see Lisa Burns lead in from Karen Pennington.

The 16th annual golf competition organised by the Wilmslow and Alderley Edge committee of ARUK was held at Styal Golf Club.

A wide range of clubs from South Manchester and Cheshire were represented by the 120 participating golfers in an event organised by Lucinda Harris.

The winners of the event with a score of 93 points were N Fesmer, R Bullock, A Fluck and C Cook.

In second place with 91 points were P Barton, C Thornton, I Crawford and S Carmichael.

More than £2,000 was raised, which along with proceeds from other fundraising activities will assist Arthritis Research.

A Saturday Stableford at Styal had Division One won at a canter by Neville Barker with 43 points from Simon Suhr-Henriksen 39.

The big gun in Division Two was David Halliday with 39 points, one more than Tony Francis and Dennis Chester.

A Wednesday medal at Styal was led in by Charlie Fenn with 70 from Steven Page, 71, and Joseph Wee, 72.

Styal ladies were also in stableford action with Mel Hill posting 33 points to finish ahead of Liz Dabrowski, 30 and Joan Doyle, 29.

The Past Lady Captain’s Trophy at Styal was won by Aileen Holohan with 39 points. She was well clear of Claire Whitney, 32, and Pat Chadwick and Sue Grange, both 31.

Styal seniors played a singles stableford and it was won by Michael Collier with 38 points, one more than Richard Vaal and Nick Gillings.

Wilmslow Golf Club’s men were in ‘major’ action with the Coburn Cup being won by David Foreman after a cpo on 69 with Steven Royle, who quickly made amends by winning the Jubilee Vase with another neat 69.
