WILMSLOW High School’s under 19s hockey girls have qualified for finals day in March.

They successfully progressed through their Cheshire tournament first round by beating both Bishop Heber and Queens School 1-0.

The under 14s hockey girls won two preliminary stage matches in the North semi finals and then overcame the Cumbria winners in the final 3-0.

As a result they have qualified for the North of England finals at Leeds University next Tuesday.

Wilmslow High School’s senior rugby team have been knocked out of the NatWest Cup by Stockport Grammar School.

Wilmslow were 19-3 up in the second half but after an injury to captain Sorrell Cowen, there was a shift in momentum and Stockport ran out 25-23 victors.

The school’s under 13s boys’ football team got their Cheshire Cup campaign off to a good start with an exciting 3-2 win against Congleton High School.

The score was tied at 2-2 with five minutes to go.

Then a well-struck free kick rebounded off a post and Henry James was on hand to score his second goal of the game and seal Wilmslow’s progression.

Twenty-four students took part in the Macclesfield and District Cross Country Championships with 16 coming through the cold and wet conditions with places secured in the area’s representative team.

Those finishing in the top 16 of their respective race will go on to compete for the district.
