WILMSLOW High School boys' under 15s football team have progressed in the Cheshire Cup.

They overcame Tytherington 5-2, with Joe Holt scoring twice.

Dante Vitale, Ben Newman and Max McEwan-Paterson chipped-in with a goal apiece, while Connor Maguire was man of the match.

The boys’ under 12s team are out of the English Schools FA cup.

They travelled to North Chadderton School in Oldham in the third round and, despite playing excellent football for the majority of the tie, the boys were unable to capitalise on the countless opportunities that were created and lost 2-0.

Two strong performances saw Wilmslow’s under 13s and under 16s girls’ sides march on to the fourth round of the ESFA Cup.

The younger team won 8-5 against Trinity high school, while the under 16s won 4-0 at Blackburn.

Meanwhile, Wilmslow’s under 16s girls’ hockey team have qualified for the county finals in March, 2017.

In the semi finals in terrible conditions they played some great hockey and beat Kings Macclesfield, Hartford, Bishop Heber and Alderley Edge.

Wilmslow’s senior girls tennis team received a nomination for Cheshire Lawn Tennis Association team of the year following success in the national team competition in the summer.

They lost out to both the under 14s county girls’ team and the over 65s men’s county side, who both became national champions last season.

There were awards for individual players handed out at the Chester Racecourse event.

Olivia French, in Year 11, is senior county ladies champion and won the Young Volunteer of the Year award.

Ellie Aldrich is under 18s girls’ county champion and was part of the winning under 14s county team, while Alice Kraunsoe and Aiden Yates were under 12s county mixed doubles winners.

Mattie French won the Fair Play award.
