IT was a family affair in a nine-hole Wednesday stableford at Styal Golf Club.

Former captain Ivan Bloor showed his enduring class as he led in with 23 points, ahead of Tom Bloor and David Graham Jones, both 20.

The Bloors struck again in a team Texas scramble, partnering C Hart and K Musa to a winning score of 54.2 to take them home from J Geddis, J Lowe, H Dickson and J Cosgrove, 55.4, and M Window, A Jowle, A Jones and B Weems, 56.9.

Sunday’s ‘open to all’ stableford at Styal was a close affair, with Anthony Guy winning a card play-off on 39 points, edging out Mike Burchell.

Hot on their heels with 38 was Rob Cressey.

In the previous week’s event, Tony Nabarro led in with an impressive 43-point haul which put him well clear of Howard Rice and Dominic Taylor, both 37.

A singles stableford for Styal’s women was won by Diana Prow with 29 points, disposing of Sue Grange, 26, and Joan Chapman, 25.

A Styal Saturday stableford featured Nick Edge leading home with a formidable 44-pointer, taking him five points clear of Dominic Taylor, Oliver Baker and Jeffrey Chadwick.

In Division Two, Gavin Holmes was also a clear winner with 39 points, seeing him first past the post from James Brown, 37, and Mike Wild, 35.

Styal’s seniors are nearing the end of their long winter league programme, with the 16th competition being won by David Riley with 43 points ahead of Nick Gillings, 42, and Dennis Brown and Alan Lines, both 40.

The main Styal men’s winter league is also reaching its conclusion.

The leaders at present are Keith Dawson, 231, Mike Burchell, 229, Eddie Birchenough, 227, Tom Bloor, 226, and Jeffrey Chadwick 225.

Wilmslow Golf Club’s men were in medal mode and produced some good scores, led in Mark Starr with 64.

Giving chase were Mike Gardner, 67, Simon Perry, 67, and Dan Fosbrook and Matthew Wood, both 68.

The professionals’ nine-hole stableford at Alderley Edge Golf Club saw Dave Snell win with 20 points, while a best-of-the-day 22 points came in Division Two from Michael Easton.
