HAVING already secured the North League’s Division Two West title, Wilmslow’s men’s first team put on a show in an 8-1 thrashing of in-form Windermere.

With the visitors fighting for position in the league, Wilmslow were expecting all-out attack but it never materialised as the hosts dominated the first half.

Andy Hunt opened the scoring, before a Steve Edmonds double put the champions firmly in the driving seat.

Edmonds produced a magnificent pass to set up Pete Hallinan for his first of the afternoon before Matt Westbrook turned defence into attack with a long pass to set up Hallinan’s second.

Hallinan was not done there as he collected Hunt’s pass to complete his first hat-trick for Wilmslow, with all three goals coming within a 10-minute period.

The second half was always unlikely to be as fluent and Windermere pulled one back through a penalty, but normal service soon resumed with Hunt taking the Wilmslow goal tally to seven.

Skipper Martin Wright got the final goal for Wilmslow, who host Oxton’s seconds in their final home game of the season on Saturday, push back 3pm.

Elsewhere the men’s second team were unlucky to lose 4-2 to Neston South Wirral, but the men’s thirds displayed a great team effort to beat Winnington Park 4-3.

The women’s first team dominated against Crewe to beat them 2-0 with goals from Charlotte Kelman and Ruth Walters.

Another outstanding performance came from the women’s thirds, who beat Triton 4-2 as Jenni Numri and Jen Middleton-Egan scored two goals each.
