ALDERLEY Park Bowls Club are gearing up for their second season at a new base and would welcome some new faces.

The club, formerly based at the Drum and Monkey pub, enjoyed a successful inaugural campaign at Alderley Edge Park, Ryleys Lane, where the women’s team gained promotion after winning the Alderley Bowls League third division trophy in 2016.

Although a small club of around 35 members, they also have a men’s team competing in the Alderley league and two mixed teams taking part in the Macclesfield League – an A team in the second division and the B team in the fourth division.

There is a entry fee of £10 to join the club, but no annual subscription. There is a match fee of £1.50 for any league games played. Matches are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

“We will be happy to welcome all enthusiastic people whatever their ability or experience,” said club secretary Lielin Fenton.

“Bowling is a very sociable sport, easy to learn and less taxing physically than most other sports.”

A practice afternoon is to take place on Wednesday, April 12, at 3pm and non-members are welcome.

Call Lielin on 07752 549160 or chairman John Venables on 07845 741178 for more details.
