MOBBERLEY A overcame a 150 points handicap to win the Knutsford and District Snooker League Team Knockout Cup at Alderley Union.

Victory was secured by the Division One king-pins against clubmates Mobberley C, who have romped to the Division Two title this season, on the blue in frame six.

Only 29 points separated the two sides in the aggregate format and the C team will be looking to exact some revenge when the pair compete at Mobberley on Monday for the Presidents Charity Trophy.

Meanwhile, Mark Newall sealed the averages title after a winning frame that included a 42 break in champions Mobberley A’s emphatic 6-1 win at confirmed Division One runners-up Alderley Union.

Shaw Heath, long-time favourites for second, fell apart at Mobberley B and their 6-1 loss means they cannot overtake Union.

At the other end of the table, Division One says ‘goodbye’ to Tatton after they scraped past relegated Morley on aggregate.

Wilmslow Cons A hammered Brook Street A 6-1, the result that guaranteed Tatton’s drop.

Division Two table toppers Mobberley C eased past wooden-spoon side Mere C 5-2, while Mere B beat Mobberley D on aggregate.

In the race for the second promotion place, Wilmslow Cons B again gave hope to RBL when they lost 4-3 to Mere A. After RBL could only win 5-2 against Brook Street B, only a mathematical miracle can stop Cons from going up now.
