AN unbeaten 82 by Tom Parfett proved not to be enough for Lindow on Saturday.

The Upcast Lane side reached 177 for 7 during an innings topped by Barrow, who joined Lindow in gaining promotion to Cheshire County Cricket League Division Two in 2015.

Barrow passed the mark on the third ball of the final over, with four batsmen remaining.

Parfett, at number three, got to the crease early as Osman Butt was caught on the 11th ball he faced.

Coach and wicketkeeper Liam Castellas scored eight, while Alex Matthews managed a four on the first ball he faced and was caught out on the second.

Charlie Williams was stumped first ball , the third wicket to fall for just nine runs in the closing stages of Lindow’s innings Barrow lost their opening two wickets cheaply but a half century from Maneesha Ayomal Nissanka and 38 not out from Andy Metcalf steadily steered the hosts to a last-over victory, their first of the season.

Lindow, fourth in the standings, will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host fifth-placed Tattenhall on Saturday.
