TIM Young kept his nerve to hit the winning runs for Lindow in a thrilling finale to their home clash with Tattenhall.

He arrived for the last wicket in a final over in which Lindow needed 11 runs.

Alex Matthews hit a six before a catch-of-the-season contender saw him returning to the pavilion and Young was the calmest man on the pitch to hit his first ball for four to win the match with two balls to spare.

In their response to Tattenhall’s 220 for 5, Lindow lost Osman Butt early which brought Tom Parfett, 67, and Ryan O’Brien, 67, together.

They played elegantly, putting on 125 for the second wicket.

When Parfett was dismissed the runs slowed down and Lindow eventually needed 30 from the last three overs.

Matthews, 14, and Adam Bull, 13, hit 17 of those runs from the 48th over.

Earlier, Mathews (15-6-42-2) took an early wicket for the home side before the visitors put together some strong partnerships despite some tight overs from Matthews and Ben Tyler (14-4-45-1).
