LINDOW'S second XI were a little unlucky in their home match against Stockport Georgians, with the visitors’ bowling attack being tailor-made for the conditions.

Lindow kept a tight hold on the run rate, restricting the visitors to 198 for 8 from their 50 overs.

The pick of the bowlers was Rowan Day, 4 for 37, but the highlight was a superb, one-handed catch by Khalid Ahmed, sprinting across from mid-on and extending a claw-like left hand to grab the ball out of the air in remarkable fashion.

Stockport’s four spinners proved to be a challenge to the Lindow batsmen on a dusty wicket that provided plenty of turn and bounce.

Mature innings from Rob Venables, 17, Ian Park, 26, Dan Braddock, 24, and Pete Hodge, 27 not out, ensured the match ended in a draw with their 148-7.
