WILMSLOW CC remain second in UKFast Cheshire League Division Two after an efficient seven-wicket victory at Winnington Park.

Skipper Jay Patel lost the toss, and was invited to field, on a track and outfield that promised runs.

After 11 overs, Park were going at eight runs an over and ominously a total near 300.

The introduction of spinners Lloyd Sykes and Elliot Rowe put the breaks on but the home side still went to tea with an imposing 213 runs on the board.

Jags Narayanan finished with a creditable 4 for 71, while five other wickets were also taken.

As good as Park’s early start was, it paled in comparison to the visitors’ opening stand of 148 in just 22 overs.

As quickly as man of the match Narayanan, 58, and Rob Herriot, 76, compiled their runs, Adam Dixon was even more earnest with three sixes in his 27.

When they had gone, a shell-shocked Park faced a more circumspect but nonetheless effective partnership between Ethan Harding, 21 not out, and Elliot Rowe, 27 not out, which bought victory with 11 overs to spare.
