ALDERLEY Edge confirmed top spot in group nine of the Joseph Holt Brewery T20 competition with victory at Bollington.

A 16-run win was achieved at the end of 20 overs per side.

Hamish Winter-Irving led the way as Premier League side Edge opened the batting.

His unbeaten 53 contributed to a total of 147-6.

Also in double figures were county opener Callum Rowe (15), Khalid Sawas (22) and Richard Wilkinson (26).

Wilkinson (3-30) then made an early breakthrough with the ball, as Sawas caught wicket-keeper James Cross from his bowling with only three runs on the board.

Chris Cook (2-27) and Andrew Windle (2-17) got in on the act too as Bollington's 20 overs ended on 131-9.

It was Edge's third win from three outings in this year's competition.

In contrast, Division Two side Lindow fell to their third successive loss in the T20 format.

Lindow, bottom of group four, were unable to catch the 182-4 achieved by Mobberley, who celebrated their first win of this year's event.

Alex Matthews (3-24) did his best to curtail the Mobberley innings and then achieved 52 not out with the bat.

There were double-figure efforts from Ryan O'Brien (22), Tom Parfett (20), Jhangahir Mushtaq (15) and Charlie Wiliams (17) too but the Upcast Lane men were well behind the rate needed on 139-8 at the end of their 20 overs.
