JORDAN Clark’s all-round display helped Alderley Edge extend their lead at the top of the Cheshire County Cricket League Premier Division.

The Lancashire man was cleared to make a rare appearance for Edge in their game at Toft and he inspired his side to a 40-run victory.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Adam Worrall’s side were reduced to 55-3 to bring Clark to the crease at number four.

He steadied the ship and top-scored with a knock of 52, with Richard Wilkinson also weighing in with a valuable 37.

Despite their contributions, Edge’s total of 150 all out appeared modest.

However, Clark took the ball at the start of Toft’s reply and ripped through the hosts’ top order.

His devastating opening spell left Toft reeling at 24-5, with Clark taking four of the wickets to fall.

The Red Rose all-rounder did not take any further wickets and finished with figures of 4-26, but the damage had been done.

After his important contribution with the bat, Wilkinson also helped out with the ball as he took 4-18 to help dismiss Toft for 110.

In Division Two, Lindow kept up their push for promotion with a five-wicket victory over Bredbury St Marks.

After losing the toss on a hot day at Upcast Lane, Lindow made light of being asked to bowl and reduced the visitors to 15-2.

The Bredbury middle order rebuilt the innings and they eventually finished on 201-7, with Tim Young leading the Lindow bowling with figures of 3-66.

Alex Matthews (2-35) also chipped in, with Ben Tyler and Ryan O’Brien taking a wicket each.

Despite losing an early wicket in their reply, Tom Parfett steadied the ship with a composed knock of 63.

O’Brien (27) and Jamie Peel (37) added vital support before Liam Castellas smashed an unbeaten 51 from just 29 balls to seal victory.

The seconds were beaten at Ashton-on-Mersey despite a good bowling performance from Matt Ramsden.

He took 4-67, well supported by 3-62 from opener Sam Walker, but the hosts were able to compile an imposing score of 275 all out.

Ian Park anchored Lindow’s innings with a knock of 82, but they were eventually dismissed for 186 to seal an 89-run defeat.

Elsewhere, Wilmslow fell victims to UKFast Cheshire Cricket League Division Two leaders Kingsley on Saturday.

Batting first, only Elliot Rowe (56) and Adam Dixon (30) got going for Wilmslow as they closed on 162-8.

Jayam Patel then took two wickets for the visitors, but Kingsley were able to reach their target for the loss of just three wickets with plenty of overs to spare.
