DAVID Atkinson was unstoppable when Alderley Edge Golf Club’s men played a stableford for the JC Brown Bowl.

His 42 points was four more than nearest rivals David Read and Stephen Saunders.

Edge’s women were in medal mode recently, with Sue Freeman top of the shop with 71.

She finished ahead of Olwen Davies and Gwyneth Hall,who were both 73.

Wilmslow Golf Club’s men played their August medal.

Brian Tait topped Division One with 68 from Rob Martin, 69, and Simon Perry, 70.

In Division Two, Peter Skelton led in with 70, one clear of Ben Roberts and Matthew Cheetham.

Wilmslow’s women played for the Captain’s Prize.

Former Cheshire lady captain Pauline Clegg showed her class as she led in with 38 points.

That was two more points than the totals achieved by Alison Iddon and Sue Martlew.

In the accompanying nine-hole stableford Pauline Whewell came out on top.

But that success only came after a card play-off on 14 points from Helen Blackwell.

A Saturday stableford for Styal’s men had Hilton Alexander topping Division One with 38 points, two more than Joe Blackburn and club legend Alan Bullock.

In Division Two Giovanni Porro won a card play-off on 35 points from Kevin Bocquet.

Styal’s seniors were also in stableford action with David Hollick posting 40 points, one more than David Greenwood and Laurence Hodge.

A Sunday Styal women’s medal was won by Aileen Holohan with 80, one less than Claire Whitney.
