STYAL FC missed out on taking over top spot last night.

They were defeated 3-0 at home by a West Didsbury and Chorlton Reserves side tasting its first victory of the new Cheshire League One season.

Styal remain second, two points behind Egerton, following relegation from the top flight.

Their first loss of the season came on the back of a bright start to 2017-18 that included a 1-0 win at Middlewich Town on Saturday when Scott Barlow netted the winner.

The Altrincham Road outfit are not scheduled to play again until Saturday, September 9, when they visit Newton Athletic Youth in the CCFA Amateur Cup first round.
