ALDERLEY Edge Hockey Club are launching a new initiative this week.

Walking hockey starts at The Edge Hockey Centre tomorrow, Friday, and should appeal to all-comers.

Walking hockey is a slow-paced version of the sport, played with bigger, plastic balls and on a small pitch.

It is aimed at all ages, fitness levels and genders, and is designed to help people keep active and have fun.

Those taking part do not need to be a club member, nor do they require previous hockey experience.

And anyone looking to join in certainly does not need to be able to run.

The club can lend out hockey sticks to those wanting to give it a go.

Tomorrow’s session will run from 11am to noon and costs £5, including a complimentary barista style coffee.

A club statement on the new sessions reads: “Walking hockey is a game played with a healthy dose of fun and laughter.

“It is a perfect opportunity to try a new sport and make new friends, whatever your age, fitness level or level of hockey skill.

“Just turn up at The Edge at 11am on Friday to give it a try.”
