ALDERLEY Edge Hockey Club women’s first team continued their preparation ahead of their step up to the North Hockey Premier League by taking on Brooklands’ seconds away.

The match ended 1-1 with Lexi Archer scoring for Edge.

Poor passing and running into contact resulted in a disappointing first-half performance.

However, they came out much stronger in the second half and had most of the possession.

The seconds enjoyed a convincing  5-0 away win over Bowdon’s thirds.

Edge were 3-0 up at half time with goals from Izzy Mowatt, Flossie Blackwell and Amy Colledge.

Continued  pressure and slick passing resulted in two more goals in the second half, both courtesy of Lois McTiffin.

A very young combined women’s thirds and fourths team faced a much more experienced Macclesfield 1st XI at Kings Macclesfield and went down 2-4.

A new sixths side came together well but went down 1-4 to Bowdon’s sixths with Lindsey Taylor managing to break through the very experienced Bowdon defence to score Edge’s only goal.

The sevenths, including several players making their senior hockey debuts, posted a fantastic 6-2 win over Didsbury Northern.

Sophie Smith, Evie Hadfield, Lily Turnball and Lara Tabachnik all got onto the scoresheet for Edge.

The club also fielded three Beavers (typically school years 7 and 8) teams on Saturday who posted a win, a draw and a loss between them.
