WILMSLOW'S streets will feel the pounding of feet and gliding of wheels on Sunday as the South Manchester Triathlon unfolds.

The sprint triathlon will start with a 400m swim at Wilmslow Leisure Centre, followed by a 24.2km flat cycle ride in the Cheshire countryside through Ashley and Mobberley and finally a 6.3km run from the leisure centre along mainly quiet, leafy roads around the east of the town.

Macmillan Cancer Support is the official charity partner for the South Manchester Triathlon, which is run as part of the Xtra Mile Events Tri Sprint Series.

Course record for the men is held by Paul Skipper with his 1hr 2mins 13secs in 2008, while the women's record is in the hands of Jacqui Slack thanks to her 1hr 09mins 57secs in 2011.
