AMANDA Partington appeared to have got her message across to the Alderley Edge Hockey Club men's team halfway through a fine North Premier League win on Saturday.

After the coach's words of wisdom at the break a one-goal advantage at Whitley Bay and Tynemouth was turned into a 7-0 success.

The victory, secured with goals from Johnson, Buckingham, Hall, Gregory, Parker and captain James Warburton, elevates Edge to third spot ahead of this weekend's final game before the Christmas break against Didsbury Northern.

A further goal glut followed 24 hours later as Alderley Edge overcame Timperley 5-2 in the England Hockey Cup.

The seconds were left to rue missed opportunities after they went down 2-0 at home to Liverpool in North League Division Two.

They will be hoping to take three points from this Saturday's home fixture against Deeside Ramblers.

Edge's thirds enjoyed a 3-0 win against Mossley Hill to retain third place in North West Division Three.

The fourths made it eight games without loss when they beat Colwyn Bay's seconds 6-3 with two goals apiece from Chris Sinton, Ali Smith and man-of-the-match James Parkin.

The over 50s men’s trip to Formby for their England Hockey Cup third-round fixture resulted in a 4-0 loss against the 2016 competition winners.

Junior side Beavers A ran out 5-0 winners against Southport.

They dominated from the start with classy passing and movement from all players.

Archie Offer, Ethan Bennion, Reuben Frodsham, Joe Stonier and Ben Jackson were the scorers.
