STYAL Golf Club are in the running for a prestigious honour.

They are finalists in the England Golf Awards 2018, in the club of the year category.

Styal are Cheshire’s only representatives.

They have been selected by the judging panel from a record-breaking entry which shines the spotlight on fantastic achievements by volunteers, coaches, clubs and counties.

Styal promote themselves as being a golf club for everyone, having some facilities and presenting some opportunities that other clubs don’t.

From the challenging 18-hole course and nine-hole Academy course, the club also boast a state-of-the-art driving range, a golf improvement academy, a junior programme, footgolf, a clubhouse and prestigious function venue, Styal Lodge.

They are shortlisted for the award along with Herefordshire’s Burghill Valley Golf Club as well as Leeds Golf Centre and Garforth Golf Club in Yorkshire.

Winners will be announced on February 22 at a glitzy dinner at the Royal Lancaster London.

England Golf chief executive Nick Pink said: “We were thrilled by the number and quality of nominations we received and delighted that so many people are helping us to tell golf’s great stories to the wider community.

“Our finalists are all outstanding and we are looking forward to highlighting their successes at our gala dinner and to applauding our winners.”
