STYAL Golf Club players will visit Hartford in the last 64 of the Dunham Forest Trophy, the blue riband competition in the inter-club knockouts organised by the Manchester and District Golf Alliance.

The Dunham Forest Trophy features the club professional and six top amateurs in singles match-play, with around 100 clubs entered in this year's edition.

The holders of the trophy are Manchester Golf Club, who have been drawn at home to Dukinfield.

The Manchester and District Golf Alliance draws have also been made for the Archie Preston Trophy for mixed foursomes, and the Seniors Match-Play for pairs.

The holders of the Archie Preston Trophy, which sees the club captain and lady captain lead out seven mixed pairs in their teams, are Shaw Hill and they will host the final in October.

In round one they will host Sandbach, while Styal will visit Whitefield.

The Seniors Match-Play was only introduced a few years ago into the Alliance calendar and has gone from strength to strength, featuring pairs of players over 55 years.

Manchester Golf Club are permanent hosts for the final day and last year the winners were Ashton-under-Lyne.

In round one they host Dunham Forest, while Styal host Alsager.

The draw has also been made for the City Glass Men’s Foursomes, which features seven pairs per team, some of whom must be over ten handicap.

Alderley Edge Golf Club will visit Dunham Forest.

The holders are Houldsworth Golf Club, who will host the 2018 final but made an early exit in this year’s competition going out in the preliminary round to Chapel en le Frith who now host Blackley in round one.

In recent results, a singles stableford for Alderley Edge’s men was won by Robert Jackson with 42 points, three more than Mike Easton and Andrew Slater.

Styal seniors played a BB stableford for the Derek Horsey Belt and D Murray and K Lee were first past the post with 40 points.

Hot on their heels were D Jones and D Tuohy, 39, and L Mills and Kevin Boquet and C Baillie and P Lawday, both 38.

A Wednesday stableford at Styal was won by Peter Cordwell with 35 points, two more than Alan Brooks and Khalil Musa.

Joan Doyle was out on her own in a Styal ladies stableford with 34 points from Kath Goodall, 27, and Diana Hutchinson, 24.
