TIM Young and Grant Waldron contributed massively to their team’s third successive victory on Saturday.

After his batsmen achieved 238-5 at Romiley, Young registered figures of 6-39 as Lindow sent their hosts scurrying to 82 all out.

Lindow’s new opening partnership of Rob Herriott and Bobby Hassard has been a revelation so far this summer and so it proved again, adding 87 for the first wicket.

When Herriott fell for 52, Waldron joined Hassard at the crease and the pair added 39 before Hassard departed for a well grafted 46.

Waldron then picked up the pace, falling last ball of the innings for a fine 95, well supported by Osman Butt (26 not out).

The Lindow bowlers played their part and the irrepressible Young bowled a fine spell of accuracy and skill in taking his six wickets.

The other bowlers chipped in with two wickets taken by Ben Tyler and one each by Alex Matthews and Sultan Raja.

Lindow’s seconds were also looking for three wins in a row as they welcomed Romiley’s seconds to Upcast Lane.

Despite a fine innings from Romiley’s Tom Roberts (87), the seven Lindow bowlers, who all picked up a wicket, had the better of the first half.

The 38 extras conceded was the clear second highest scorer for Romiley.

Lindow started well in reply with both openers, Dan Braddock (57) and Ian Park (63), chalking up half centuries.

With both dismissed, Charlie Williams (20) and Matt Myatt (33 not out) pushed on the run chase, but tight bowling meant the game ended in a draw with the hosts on 199-6.

Falling just 18 short of victory, the hosts can take plenty of positives but were left to rue the extras given away earlier in the day.

Lindow’s thirds lost for the first time this season, away at a strong Kerridge first XI.

Batting first, Lindow were unable to post a big score with James Venables (29) and Hassan Mahmood (25) top scoring in their 123-9.

In reply Kerridge reached the total with five wickets down.
