LINDOW Cricket Club enjoyed a perfect Saturday as all three senior teams won their matches, coming hot on the heels of a huge midweek victory.

On Thursday Lindow welcomed high-flying Premier League side Toft to Upcast Lane for a T20 Cup match.

The large crowd were treated to a batting masterclass from Lindow’s Major Khan, who continued his fine run of form scoring 88 with sixes being hit to all parts.

He was well supported by Bobby Hassard (23) and Grant Waldron (21), leaving Lindow on 165-8.

With early wickets, Lindow sensed the opportunity of a big upset but as 47-4 became 70-4 the visitors started to regain their position.

Then Waldron struck, removing Scott for 26.

Three wickets apiece for Tim Young and Sultan Raja, backed up by excellent spells from Alex Matthews, Waldron and David McBride, saw Toft finish on 137-9.

The first XI hosted Hale Barns looking to build on their midweek heroics.

Having won the toss and chosen to bat doubts could have crept in as the hosts found themselves 16-3.

However, this team continues to find ways of getting out of tricky situations and the determination of Bobby Hassard (67) and the flair of Khan (96) saw 169 added for the fourth wicket.

Further positive batting saw Lindow declare on 246-7 off 48 overs.

In response Hale Barns found it tough going against Young (2-49) and Matthews, struggling to 47-4.

The visitors then dug in and as the runs increased and the overs passed by it looked as though Lindow’s winning run may be halted.

On 135 the fifth wicket finally arrived as Matthews (3-60) bowled Dodson for 57.

From there, despite some initial resistance, it was the Raja show as he took 5-29 and even finished the match with a hat-trick.

Hale Barns were bowled out for 203, giving Lindow a fifth win in a row and with it top spot in Cheshire County Cricket League Division Two.

Ian Park rattled up 106, with support from David Kendrick (38) and Max Espley (26no) as Lindow’s seconds declared on 258-4 off 44 overs at Cheadle Hulme, who were then dismissed for 186.

The pick of the Lindow bowlers was Khalid Ahmed (5-58), well supported by Rowan Day (3-28), and McBride (1-19).

Also chipping in were Liam Howarth (1-47) and young spinner Joe Day, who earned his call up having impressed for the third XI.

The win takes Lindow up to third and extends their unbeaten run to five games.

Lindow’s thirds wrapped up a six-wicket win in the 23rd over at home table-topping neighbours Styal on the back of 91 from captain for the day James Venables and Andy Hume (42).

Styal had been dismissed for 160 with Simon Bolton (3-23), Jacob Williams (2-29) and Simon Rowland (2-47) among the wickets.
