WILMSLOW Sports Pumas under 13s football team capped a fantastic season in the club's 50th year by securing their fourth piece of silverware.

They completed the league and cup double in the Timperley league’s top division for the second season in succession before winning their second all-day tournament at Barrs Hill in Salford on Saturday.

Manager Brad Monks said: “It’s been a long season and the boys have had to show many different qualities as the season has progressed.

"Their football for two thirds of the season was sensational and some of the performances and goals will live long in the memory and then for the final third of the season the lads had to battle and fight their way to the success they had.

"They were defeated in the Cheshire Cup Final and their confidence subsequently took a knock and the team's results had a wobble, but I’m immensely proud of how the lads turned that around just in time to deservedly win the league and clinch a cup win as well.

"To go on and win two all-day tournaments and make it four trophies for the season means this year will go down as a very special one indeed for an immensely talented and driven bunch of lads.

"Next season promises to be even more challenging as other teams are progressing and strengthening their squads but the lads, after a break in the summer, will be back and working hard to ensure they’re giving themselves the best chance of continued success and flying the flag for the club in its 51st year!”
