A MUSIC-LOVING mum with a passion for early years education is launching a new baby and toddler activity class in Alderley Edge.

Chrissie Parris will be bringing Monkey Music classes to the town starting this September, providing interactive musical activities for children from 3 months to 4 years, and the first class is free.

Monkey Music is well established in the south of England, but Chrissie is the first person to bring the concept to the north, where she will also be running classes in Poynton and Bramhall

The mum-of-four, who has a passion for working with babies and pre-schoolers as well as music and singing, says she sees it as the perfect way of combining her two main interests.

She said: “I’ve worked with children as a swim teacher and loved it, and the reward you get from teaching little ones a new skill is like nothing else.

“After having a hip replacement earlier this year, I was finding poolside work a struggle for my recovery, so I decided to investigate other ways to use my skills and interests - and ones that were on dry land.

“I’ve also spent time developing my love of singing by taking lessons, vocal coaching, and college courses, to expand my repertoire and even venturing into classical and opera singing.

“I’ve even performed in some local productions.

“I feel so proud to be bringing Monkey Music to Cheshire, and share their amazing classes with the local community.”

Angie Coates, CEO and founder of Monkey Music, said: “We are so excited to have Chrissie on board.

“Being musically trained, she has so much knowledge to share with the families that come along to her classes.

"We wish her all the best.”

The classes will be taking place on Fridays at Chorley Village Hall, in Knutsford Road.
