SIX people are being quizzed by police after ‘unknown substances’ were found during a drugs raid at a property in Knutsford.
Around 110 residents were evacuated from their homes on Longridge after a drug warrant was executed at around 7am on Monday, November 27.
A large number of police officers and fire and ambulance vehicles surrounded the property and a 100-metre cordon was put in place as a precautionary measure.
Bomb disposal experts spent all day working to identify the nature of the substances.
Elderly and infirm residents plus many young families had to leave their homes.
A reception centre was set up at Knutsford Leisure Centre to look after them.
Residents were evacuated for around seven hours.
Following assessment, it was confirmed that it was safe for residents to return to their homes at around 5pm.
Six people were arrested at the address, and they all remain in custody at this time.
Five men aged 23, 24, 24, 29 and 58, along with a 22-year-old woman, were all arrested on suspicion of production of a controlled substance.
Detective Inspector John O’Driscoll, of Eastern CID, said: “I understand the disruption caused by this incident and I would like to thank residents for their patience and support.
“Officers will remain in attendance in the area to provide reassurance and I would urge anyone with any concerns to speak to an officer.”
