IMAGINATIVE fundraisers have come up with a novel way to collect money for a new trim trail.

The Friends of Handforth Grange Primary School plan to sell chocolate bars with ‘golden tickets’ hidden inside.

The launch of the new Wonka film next month inspired their fun challenge.

The team has already raised an incredible £11,000 and hope to reach their target of £13,000 for new equipment on the school field.

Fundraisers hope their incentive to win some fabulous prizes in time for Christmas will do the trick.

Anwyl Homes has donated £500 towards prizes for the giveaway.

Jessica Hall, a member of Friends of Handforth Grange, said: “Over the past two years we have raised just over £11,000 through different fundraising events.

“We would really like to try and reach our goal before the end of the year.

“We thought this would be a fun idea for schoolchildren to get involved in as everyone knows and loves the famous Roald Dahl story.

“We’ll be using Anwyl’s generous donation towards buying fantastic prizes.

“We are hoping to include a top brand games console, £100 shopping vouchers and tickets for family activities and days out.”

The movie, due to be launched on December 15, will tell the story of Willy Wonka, focusing on how he went from being a young boy with big dreams to the world-famous king of candy, and be a prequel to Roald Dahl’s book Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

Chalamet will be joined by a star-studded cast, including Hugh Grant, Olivia Colman, Rowan Atkinson, Matt Lucas and Keegan-Michael Key.

Graeme Gibb, sales director at Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “We’re always looking for ways to support the local community around our developments.

“We are so pleased we can help out the Friends of Handforth Grange with their brilliant fundraising efforts.

“The trim trail will be a great addition to the school.

"We wish them lots of luck selling the ‘golden ticket’ bars.”

Andrea Booth, head teacher of Handforth Grange, said: “We encourage children to have a healthy lifestyle through extra-curricular sports clubs, our daily run and opportunities to take part in sports tournaments.

“We are always looking for ways to further develop our playground spaces.

“The Friends of Handforth Grange team have done an amazing job raising so much money towards the project with the support of our parents and carers.

“The children have been involved in choosing the design for the trim trail and are really looking forward to its installation when we hit our target.”

The school is looking for more businesses to provide funds for prizes that can be won in their ‘golden ticket’ chocolate bars.
