Knutsford mayor Cllr Peter Coan said “The Millennium Bursary is more than just a financial boost.

“It's a vote of confidence from your community, recognising your potential and encouraging you to excel.

“So I urge all second year students not to hesitate and take advantage of this opportunity.”

Ella Senior, a student training to be a vet, won last year’s bursary.

The Edinburgh University undergraduate was studying veterinary medicine and surgery.

Last year, Ella, of Queensway, said: “I’m very excited at the opportunity to be able to use this bursary to help me with the large amounts of work experience I have to do with my degree.

“I have had some amazing experiences so far working on farms all over the country.

“The bursary will help fund travel, accommodation and living costs during my placements.”

The money can help alleviate financial pressures during a student’s final year.

Whether it is to fund for research materials, travel for fieldwork, or simply a helping hand with living expenses, the Millennium Bursary can make a real difference.

Past recipients have used the award to access specialist software, conduct international research and buy essential equipment for their projects.

Application forms are available from knutsfordtowncouncil.gov.uk/services/millennium-bursary

Students are asked to submit a written statement outlining their academic aspirations and how the bursary could help them to achieve their goals.

The closing date is February 16.
