RETIRED local surgeon, Peter Sykes, visited Wilmslow U3A and gave a talk on various surgical procedures but mainly gall bladder removal.
He demonstrated it with the help of two members, Margaret Lawson (doctor) who held up the cardboard model and passed the necessary instruments and Cherry Dolden (anaesthetist) wielding a mallet.
The repartee between the three of them was very amusing although there was a serious side to the information.
Peter answered several questions after his talk and also spoke of two books of fiction which he has written based on his medical experience, a third one is in the pipeline.
The next meeting is on Wednesday, July 22 when Keith Warrender will speak about the Bollin Valley from Macclesfield to Styal.
