ALDERLEY Edge Golf Club’s men played a singles medal in two divisions.

Paul Penney topped Division One with a neat 66 ahead of David Snell, 67, and Mike Troup and Mark Walker, both 68.

In Division Two, Ron Ricketts was the main man with 67 from Steve Bennett, 69, Ken Hall, 71, and John Roberts, 72.

A Sunday stableford at Styal was led in by Anthony Guy after a card play off on 38 points with Hayden Cook, two more than Sam Hall.

A seniors stableford at Styal had Geoffrey Proctor in firm control with 38 points from Brian Appleby, 34, and Malcolm Hollins and Michael Collier, both 33.

Styal ladies played a singles stableford and it was won by Sue Grange with 27 points closely followed by Mel Hill, 26, and Judith Lacy, 25.

Robert Jackson will be joining Charles in the PGA national qualifier after winning the qualifier at Alderley with a fine score of 42 points, three more than Mike Easton and Andy Slater.

In last year’s regional final Charles and Steve Bennett finished in a very creditable third place.
