AN emphatic return to form has left Shaw Heath with one hand on the Knutsford and District Amateur Snooker League title.

The leaders had lost four games recently to give the chasing pack hope, but a 7-0 thrashing of Wilmslow Cons B has left them in an imperious position.

With just three weeks of competition remaining, Shaw Heath are five points clear of their nearest rivals with a game in hand.

It was a truly miserable week for Wilmslow Cons, with the A team also suffering a shut-out loss to a Mere A side who extended their winning streak to eight matches.

All of the remaining Week 23 matches were considerably closer, with all three finishing in 4-3 home victories.

A century of points from Tony Jackson helped Mere B edge out Tatton B while a break of 30 from Pete Blain played a key role in Tatton A’s win over Mobberley B.

Back at the Mobberley club, the A team all but extinguished the title hopes of their C team with a ‘derby’ victory.

While the team title may be all but sealed, the race for the best individual performance is going down to the wire with a number of players in contention.

Alex McDonough leads the way on 15 wins, with Vic McAfee just behind on 14. Nick Edmonson and Bruce Tulley both have 13 while the six players who sit on 12 victories still have an outside chance.
